Why workout later in life?
Muscular strength and aerobic fitness are linked with maintaining functional independence as we age, reducing the risk of functional limitations and disability between 30-50%. Aerobic exercise is also shown to help people over the age of 55 with their cognitive processing speed and auditory attention. Using aerobic and strength training we can limit and rebuild bone mineral density that declines as we age, making sure our skeleton is just as young as we feel.
Sedentary behavior and inactivity can lead to decreasing bone density and loss of 3 to 5% muscle mass each decade after the age of 30, not to mention potential cardiac problems.
Age is just a number, it’s never too late to start your fitness journey!
